Boundary Park inflicted a humiliating 11-3 defeat on League Champions Woodhouse United in the Quarter Final of the League Cup
The circumstances surrounding this fixture, denied date switch, change of ground and refusal to change colours, and missing players plus the refusal to let us attend the Christening Mass played a BIG motivating kick to produce the out of this world first half performance and the whole game
The tough midweek Cup game against Cardinal Villa also gave us a sound base to raise our game against good opposition.
We had to scramble to assemble a starting team but thanks to players changing plans we managed to put together a side. And what a side it was.
We started this game like a team possesed ...
08 Mins Nick Maxwell with a great strike after some good work from Kaine. 0-1
13 mins Nick Maxwell with another thunder strike , nearly taking the keepers hand into the back of the net. great support work from Mark Hearne and Callum Franklin to set up Maxwell 0-2
14 mins Callum Franklin penalty 0-3 16 mins Mark Hearne broke through and rounded the keeper for 0-4
24 mins Callum Franklin with a diving header from a great cross from Kaine Radcliffe on the left 0-5
29 mins Kaine Radcliffe with a half volley in off a post from a Fats Roy Radcliffe cross 0-6
31 mins Callum Franklin receives a great switch pass from Andrew Stafford , beats his marker and curls a shot into top corner 0-7
36 mins Fatman Roy Radcliffe smashes a penalty into the far corner 0-8 42 mins we concede a goal, back four pushed to far forward hunting goals, caught on brake 1-8
44 mins despite a hand ball on the line saving a goal bound shot, Callum Franklin followed up to slot home his 4th and Boundary Park 9th goal of the incredible first half. Had the score been close the Ref probably would have given a penalty and produced a red card. But he let the goal stand 1-9
Half time an massive 9-1 lead
51 mins a goal for Woodhouse United when once again, over ambitious goal hunting from defenders left us exposed for the forward to run through clear and slot home 2-9
67 mins another goal from Woodhouse United who were now playing for pride. 3-9
78 mins another Woodhouse United goal ... but in their own net !! - OWN GOAL 3-10
87 mins Kaine Radcliffe rounds off the scoring 3-11
Some key points in this game Kaine not reacting with violence when headbutted - the referee did his job and sent off the Woodhouse player ... no point reacting and also getting sent off .. well done Kaine
Passing movement in first half fantastic - second hald understandably we took our foot off the pedal .. but we need to be ruthless for 90 mins .. good habits breed good habits
Teddy Andrew Stafford agreed to help us out and had a great game in the centre midfield ... many thanks and well done.
Aaron Green picked up a booking again ,,, but this one I felt was for the team, it was a great last ditch tackle that saved a likely goal. This £10 fine the club will pick up ... you all know the rules ..... YOU pay for talking yourself into a booking .. stupid unecessary bookings ..
Fats had a few liitle chats with the Ref but quickly realised that there would only be one winner in that contest. Came off for a well earned rest after leaving a huge first half impression on the opposition. Picked up the flag and did the line.
Good performances all round, Siddy talking and organising from the back, Mark and Callum combining well, Kaine with a nuch improved work rate in midfield, Bucko doing well and looking for goals off set peices, Langley and Marcus containing the wing threats.
Rick with a good second half performance and a buzzing Omar working his socks off as usual.
Maxwell for a man of the match performance with 2 great first match goals to set up the rout.
Mike and Pete for organising, coaching and encouraging from the touchline
WELL DONE THE WHOLE SQUAD TODAY .... AWESOME
